Manufacturer Description: TWP 1500 Series resists water absorption that causes warping, cracking and splitting. It also prevents freeze damage in colder climates. TWP 1500 is great for wood decks. TWP 1500 Series is a low VOC preservative with special U.V. absorbing pigments. This prevents unsightly wood graying, darkening and fading. The selected mildewcides inhibit the growth of mold & mildew, which assist in preventing premature discoloration.

TWP 1500 Stain Review

Product has a strong odor, but looks nice on the test boards. It was harder to apply because I had to brush extra. Did not look nearly as nice, or apply nearly as easily, as the TWP 100 series that we tested. 14 month weathering tests were also not nearly as good, with the 1500 series showing significant darkening, color loss and mildew growth, when compared to the 100 series.

Great stain and lasted longer than expected. Just be sure to follow instructions to get maximum protection. I am on my 12th year – first go around lasted about 5 years and still looked great when I re-applied.

+ PROS: Lasts a long time
    - CONS: Have to follow instructions.

I’ve had great success with this on my fence. In my 5th year and after this winter I have a few spots on my cross supports that have lost stain. Those are ones that don’t get much sun and hold the snow and moisture longer. Rest of my fence still looks great. Got a compliment on how good my fence looks a couple weeks ago and that’s after 5 years. I have a 300 ft. fence
Unless something drastic happens I expect at least another 2 years before I need to stain again.

    + PROS: durability
    - CONS: prep and cost but doing it right and high quality is part of the process and expected.
